Willie Carter also known as “Stanley Carter” to his family and friends, was born on October 1, 1928 to the late James Carter and Ruby Wilson in Parrott, Georgia. He is survived by three siblings: Nellie Philisnor, Willie Frank Carter (Juanita), and baby sister, Doris Rose (William). He was united in Holy matrimony to the late Mrs. Loretta (Simmons) Carter. To this union nine children were born; Willie was preceded in death by son David Carter, daughter, Betty “Jean” Carter and great-granddaughter Ismaria Carter. Brother Willie was a member of Virgil Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where a foundation of faith was laid. He was a kind loving soul who’s smile and spirit were a treasure to all who knew him. On March 23, 2019 God saw fit to give Brother Willie his wings; his earthly work was finished. He was surrounded by his loving family while transitioning into eternal rest. Brother Willie was raised in Parrott, Georgia and went on to become a self-trained carpenter and is known throughout Cuthbert for his carpentry skills, craftsmanship, and quality work (he could build anything). He was sought out to build various items for family and friends; which he happily did in a very short period. Although he built many items he was known far and wide for his picnic tables and benches. Brother Willie retired from Burgin Lumber after 40 years of service; he also worked for the town of Coleman, Georgia. Brother Willie leaves to cherish his loving memory seven children; Robert Carter (Annie) of Columbus, Georgia; Yolanda Carter of McDonough, Georgia; Juanita Evans of West Palm Beach, Florida; Larry Carter (Pam) of Hephzibah, Georgia; Willie Carter (Lavoris) of Winchester, California; Jacqueline Holmes (Gregory) of Cuthbert, Georgia; and Darren Carter of Cuthbert, Georgia.
