Ms. Ozella Peterson was born August 14, 1940, in Morris Station, Georgia. She was the seventh of eight children born to J.C. and Leila Peterson.
Ozella was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses early in life, and she dedicated her life to helping others through a systematic study of God’s word. Her love for Jehovah God moved her to pursue a career in the fulltime ministry, going from door to door preaching and teaching others about Jehovah, his kingdom, and his son Jesus Christ.
On the morning of Thursday, March 28, Ozella peacefully went to sleep. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Ethel Barber, Bennie Lou Haygood, Gertha Lee Goines, Leila Mae Jones, and Nettie Mae Dixon; and her brothers, James C. Peterson and Johnny Edward Peterson.
Precious cherished memories of Ozella remain with those who loved her: daughters, Mary Alice Peterson Sanni (Joseph), and Veronica Peterson Martinez (Carlos); grandchildren, Tommy Hawkins, Jr., Jonathan Hawkins, Joseph Ayodele Sanni, Jr., and Olu Sanni; great-grandchildren, Uriyah Hawkins, Kayli Hawkins, and Amya Hawkins; and great-grandchildren, Tommy Hawkins, III, Bella Sanni, and Belair Sanni; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
