On December the 20th 1947 in Coushatta, Louisiana God blessed the late Bernice Grant and Ervin Hardy with a beautiful daughter. They gracefully gave her the name of Helen Jean. Helen Jean was the oldest of 5 siblings. Helen departed this earthly home to her heavenly home on October 1, 2020from Wilson hospice in Albany GA. Helen was raised in Louisiana until the age of 15 when she moved to Anchorage Alaska. She graduated from East High School in Anchorage and later attended Wayland Baptist Theology College. Her love for the Lord began at an early age, she was raised in New Hope Baptist Church while in Anchorage and later joined Rocky Bottom Missionary Baptist Church in Shellman GA where she served as treasurer. On May the 15th 1975 she married the love of her life, Richard Vickerson and they joined together with five children. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, traveling and spending time with her large family. She was a loving and caring person who affected so many in a positive way. Preceding her in death is her son, Lavelle Walker, her father Ervin Hardy and her mother Bernice Grant. Cherishing her memories and keeping her love is her spouse Richard Vickerson of Shellman, Ga; two daughters Tabitha and Belinda; two sons, Silvester Walker & his spouse Lora and Quin Walker; her sister Ruby Washington and her brothers Dan Hardy, Eric Grant and Sylvester Grant; her best friend and devoted mother in law Ella Graddy; eight grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren, ten sister in laws and five brother in laws; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
