Joe Wallace Roger, a long time resident of Cuthbert, Georgia, departed this life on September 10, 2020 at Landmark Hospital, Naples, Florida, after years of undergoing dialysis treatment. Joe Wallace was born on May 5, 1935 to the late Wallace Stine Rogers and Ozie Mae Barbary Rogers. Joe Wallace attended the Randolph County School System, and spent the majority of his adult life as a self-employed builder and a remodeler of homes and buildings. Throughout Joe Wallace’s life, he was a faithful member of Zion Rock A.M. E. Church, which was subsequently renamed Zion Rock Baptist Church, Cuthbert, Georgia. Joe Wallace and his cousin, Bay Brooks, built the building that is currently being utilized by the congregation at Zion Rock Baptist Church. Joe Wallace loved his family and friends, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting before his health began to fail. He was the patriarch of the Rogers family after the passing of his father and mother, and served as the executor of the Rogers family farm. Joe Wallace was preceded in death by his mother and father, Wallace and Ozie Mae; his wife Christine Small Rogers; his sons, Tommy Rogers and Frank Rogers. He was also preceded in death by six (6) siblings, Irene Rogers Wilborn, Joseph Rogers, Rufus Rogers, Minnie Rogers Campbell, David Rogers, and Georgia Ann Rogers. Joe Wallace leaves to morn his passing, two (2) daughters Elmiria Rogers Peterson and Azzie “Phoebe” Lewis; two (2) sons Larry Rogers and Lee Norris Jordan; two brothers and a sister, R. Norris Rogers and Wallace “Boone” Rogers Jr and Betty Rogers Sturgan, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins
