On May 13, 1939, God blessed Rand and Verna Thomas with a beautiful daughter which they named Mildred Antoinette. Mildred departed this life on June 26, 2019; her soul took flight to its eternal resting place. She graduated from Randolph County Training School in 1956. She married the late Rushiel Fredrick Gadson in 1959 and to this union five children were born: Vincent, Michelle, Ronald, Adrienne, and Nicole. Mildred lived in Hartford, Connecticut for many years before returning home to Cuthbert, Georgia. She was employed as the first black radio dispatcher at the Cuthbert Police Department for over 30 years. At a young age, she confessed her belief in the Jesus Christ and joined Payne Chapel A.M.E. Church where she served faithfully until her health failed. The Red Hatters, Golden Girls and the October Club were her community affiliations. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Veronica Thomas and her parents Rand and Verna Thomas. She loves to cherish her loving memories five children: Vincent Gadson, Michelle (Derrick) Oliver, Ronald (Lori) Gadson, Adrienne Gadson, and Nicole Gadson all of Cuthbert, Georgia: one sister, Frances Robinson from Fort Lauderdale, Florida: eleven grandchildren: Andrew, Ruchelle (Demetris), Alexis, Chanel, Frederick (Delicia), Austin, Freddresha, Jakobe, Vincent, Aniya, Mary: one great grandson: Bryson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
