Lois Vernette Brown was born to the parentage of Henry and Coreatha Johnson Shelley on December 18, 1942. She was the oldest of six children. Her parents and a brother, Vincent, preceded her in death. Lois was called home to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. She matriculated through the Randolph County School System, finishing High School in 1960 at the Randolph County Training School. Lois joined Mitchell Grove Baptist Church at an early age; where she became a dedicated member, Treasurer of the church and a fabulous cook for the church and the community until her health failed. She was married to Paul Jones earlier and later married the love of her life, Mr. Edward T. Brown. She then became stepmom to Edward Jr, Miriam, Shirley and Norma Jean. The latter two, Shirley and Norma Jean, preceded her in death. Some of the jobs Lois held included domestic work, working with children at the Nannie L. Jenkins Learning Center, where many of the children became quite attached to her. She also substituted and worked in the lunchroom in Randolph County School System. Lois did not have any children of her own, but she was a mother figure to all of us, and she called Donnie, who preceded her in death, her “baby”. All cherishing her memories include her sisters, Evelyn McDonald (Joe), Karen Johnson, Beldra Ann Johnson, and Linda King; brothers, Danny Johnson (Patricia Ann), and Henry Shelley Jr; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Since the passing of Agnes Johnson and Lois, the family tree now consists of Doris, Eutrilda, Lavaughn and Evelyn, the oldest in that generation to help carry on the Johnson Family Legacy.
