Lizzie Hope

Mrs. Lizzie Hope was born July 28, 1918 in Midway, Alabama, to the late Lucy and Johnny Groom. She departed this earthy life on March 31, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA.   In 1935 Mrs. Lizzie Hope was married to Mr. Earnest Hope, Sr. Mrs. Hope joined Pleasant Valley A.M.E. Church which was destroyed by fire, then she connected with Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Church in 1942. She served faithfully as a Missionary until her health failed.   Mrs. Hope was educated at Pleasant Valley Country School in Cuthbert, GA. She is the last student of Mrs. Laura Shorter’s Class.   One brother C. G. Groom and A sister Julia Burks preceded her in death.   Mrs. Lizzie Hope leaves a legacy of love with her beloved children: Mr. Earnest Hope, Jr. and Mr. Johnny Hope Sr., both preceded her in death. Mrs. Annie (Anselm) Peters Brooklyn, New York, Ms. Willie M. Hope (Orlando, Florida), Mrs. Creasie (Rev. James Wright) Cuthbert, GA, and Mr. Freddie Hope, Sr. (Christine) Cuthbert, GA. In addition, a granddaughter, Veronica Hope, who Mrs. Lizzie raised as her own. One sister, Mrs. Susie Wilson, eighteen grandchildren, a host of precious great and great-great grandchildren. Also, two devoted nephews Mr. Royzell Wilson and Mr. Larry Wilson. A special caregiver Ms. Racine McDonalds and host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
