John Robinson

February 27, 1948 — May 5, 2023

On February 27, 1948, in Sumter, South Carolina, God ordained the birth of a baby boy into this world to the late James Leroy Robinson Sr. and the late Earline Johnson Robinson. The child was named John Edward Robinson, Sr. Mr. Robinson, 75, departed this life early Friday morning, May. 5, 2023 at St. Francis Emory Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. After attending the public schools of Sumter County and Lincoln High School, he moved to Brooklyn, New York. Mr. Robinson was employed for many years as a peace officer and school safety officer. John was well known for his beautiful singing voice and his joy of music. He should have been a song writer because he had a gift of creating songs like “Peanut Butter and Jelly” or” Fried Bologna”. As the family’s jokester, people would gravitate around him to hear his made-up stories or just to be in his presence. There was never a dull moment, and you were guaranteed a great time of fun and laughter. John is survived by his life partner Mary; their children, Aaron Davis, LaToya Robinson-Knight, Rytasha Robinson (Linnell), of Cuthbert Georgia; three daughters Tymeria Ellis of Brooklyn, New York, Marci Toliver, of South Carolina and Nicole Fajardo of Charlotte N.C; two sisters, Blanche Logan of Snellville GA and Jimmie Lee Blossom of Sumter S.C.; one brother Roosevelt Anderson Sr. of New York; four stepsisters, Rev. Mary Johnson of S.C., Eartha Eadie of Mathew N.C., Linda Bruton and Virginia Brown of Bronx, NY; one stepbrother John Johnson (Arveal) of San Diego CA; eleven grandchildren, Nazariah, Omarien, Pharrell, Skylarr, Aziyah, Tyquan, Natasha, Brandon, Jose, Nakeem, and Charles; six great grandchildren Kalaya, Vaniya, Jayla, Jalea, Nylah, Jaiden, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents, James and Earline Robinson; his son John E. Robinson Jr; his brothers, Leroy Robinson Sr., James Robinson Jr., and Thomas E. Robinson; and his stepsister Eva M. Johnson Vaughn. Video Tribute
