Geraldine B. Perkins was born to the late Sonnie and Vercie Beauford on July 02, 1931, in Lumpkin, Georgia. She was the thirteenth of sixteen children. She transitioned on August 17, 2024.
She was educated in the Stewart County Public School system. She received Christ at an early and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
After retiring from Kellwood as a seamstress, she spent her time baking cakes, canning fruit and vegetables, making preserves and gardening. She took pride in growing her own vegetables and her mini greenhouse on her porch with an assortment of plants. When she was not coaching the Atlanta Braves from her couch, she enjoyed listening to her main men, B.B. King and Bobby “Blue” Bland.
She was passionate about everyone’s voice being heard during elections. She would pick up and deliver absentee ballots to those who were not able to get out to vote. She passionately campaigned for those she supported locally, statewide and nationally. Preceding her in death: Parents, Sonnie and Vercie Beauford; Husband, Hubert Perkins; Son, Madison Perkins; Sisters, Mary, Martha, Lucille, Frances, Naomi and Claudette; Brothers, Sonny Jr, Willie, Sidney, Howard, Moses, Flanagan and Roceal Sr.
She is survived by one Granddaughter, Dashia Jackson; two grandsons, Peyton Perkins and Quentin Perkins; Two great granddaughters, Morgan Jackson and Sidney Lee; One sister, Louella Harper; one brother, Franklin Beauford (Mildred); Daughter-in-law, Beverly Perkins; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
