Charlie Lee Devorce, 70, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, August 4, 2019. Charlie was born and raised in Lumpkin (Stewart County), Georgia on April 2, 1949 to William Devorce and Gussie Devorce (Cherry). He also called Cuthbert, Georgia his home where he raised his children. Charlie leaves behind his loving wife, Mary Devorce of 46 years. Charlie is a retiree of the State of Georgia, where he worked for the Georgia Forestry Commission as a Ranger for over 20 years. As a Ranger, he held various roles, and traveled to distant areas to fight forest fires. He always had a particular love for working with his hands, and could fix or build almost anything. For the past two years, Charlie was devoted to forming a close relationship with his loving father, Jehovah God, and attended all meetings with Jehovah’s Witnesses, and studied the Bible to get to know God better. Although his wish was to get baptized before his death, he forever lives on in Jehovah’s memory and has the hope of the resurrection. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Gussie Devorce and his sister Emma Jean Thomas. Charlie is survived by his precious wife Mary, and 6 children: Terry McElroy, Tywonda Devorce, Tyrone Devorce, Tanisha D.
