Deacon Alton Green was born January 10, 1956 in Randolph County, Georgia to the late Evelyn Coleman Green and Andrew Green. He departed this life on February 24, 2025 at his home in Cuthbert, Georgia. He was married to Jacqueline Gilford Green from Plains, Georgia.
Deacon Alton Green joined Vilulah Baptist Church of Randolph County early in life. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior in high school and became a member of Albany Deliverance Cathedral, local church under the leadership of Apostle Lawrence and Minnie Jones. Later in life he became a member of Greater Life Ministry under the leadership of Bishop Mary Knighton, as lead guitar player.
Alton had a love for music especially the Guitar. He played with a gospel group called The Tears of Joy for many years. He also was employed with American Building in Eufaula, AL for twenty-two years until his health failed.
Alton also had a love for helping people, even people he didn’t know. He loved repairing vehicles, no matter what the issue was. If he didn’t know how to fix it, he always had a machine or person he could call to get the answer and never stopped until he got the job done.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Jacqueline Green; three children, Antekia Bush, Brandon Green and Keldra (Michael) Jackson; brothers and sisters, Henry (Ethel) Coleman, Melvin Green, all of Cuthbert, GA, Johnny Bell (John) Murray of Tallahassee, FL, Annie (Eddie) Davis, Mandy Green, Blondean Jones, all of Cuthbert, GA; eight grandchildren, Jimiyah Carter, Zy’Camron Currington, Jamareon Green, Joy Jackson, Brianna Green, Samiira Jackson, Jada Brookins, Aubrey Green; a special nephew, John Murray, Jr.; a close friend, Vertis Rogers; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
