Alvin Fillingame, affectionately called Rooster, was born on December 13, 1949 in Cuthbert, Georgia to Lillie Mae Fillingame and the late Choice Fillingame, Sr. He was a graduate of Henderson High School, class of 1968. Many of his classmates would describe his personality as witty and outgoing, and he was always willing to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was also an avid lover of fishing. Alvin was a hard worker and a man of many trades. He worked at Yale Rubber Company in Dawson, GA, Day Plywood Company in Cuthbert, GA; He later retired from the City of Cuthbert after thirty-one (31) years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Floyd (Mae) Fillingame. Alvin leaves to cherish his memories a loving mother, Lillie Mae Fillingame of Cuthbert, GA; one sister, Josephine (Floyd) Goodwin of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Choice (Gloria) Fillingame of Cuthbert, GA; one aunt, Juanita (Samuel) Williams of Montezuma, GA; two uncles, Jesse Denson of Clearwater, FL; and Marvin Johnson of Miami, FL. A special niece, Gabreale Fillingame, two devoted cousins/caregivers: Kameshia Paramore and Sandra Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
