Pearlene Burks

Pearlene “Johnson” Burks departed from this life and entered into her new home on November 15, 2016 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. Pearlene was born December 5, 1956 in Leary, GA. to the late Roy Johnson Sr. and Hattie Mae Johnson.  Her Education was received at Calhoun County Public Schools. She later left home and worked at the Day Plywood Company. Later in life she worked at Bakerhill Chicken Plant until her health fell.  Pearlene accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and she knew one day he would ease all her suffering. One of her favorite songs was “So many times the Lord has made a way for me”. She later joined Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with her husband Grant Burks. She served as an usher for many years until her sickness and untimely death. To all that knew her she was known to be KIND, LOVING, CARING, HARD-WORKING, and an EASY GOING WOMAN.  She is preceded in death by her father (Roy), Sister (Doris Johnson), and oldest son (Cpl. Floyzell Jones, Jr.).  The moment of laughter and joy spent with Pearlene will always be remembered and cherished in the hearts of her devoted husband Grant C. Burks, Sr., mother Hattie Mae Johnson of Leary, GA; Daughters: Andrea (Eric) Cunningham of Eufaula, Alabama, Latonya (Nakil) Cannon of Albany, GA; Step Daughters: Shantell (Theodis) Bass, Keronda Burks of Cuthbert, GA; Sons: Donzell Jones of Atlanta, GA.; Stepsons: Grant (Breka) Burks of Albany, GA. and Aundra Clay of Cuthbert, GA. Grandkids: Addarius, Kiaira, Jayden, Justin, Jakira, Jayden, Janiya, Zyquieria, Myesha, Tyesha, Cameron, Cornelius, Kinyah, Zydarrius, Tyquann, Tyqueria, and Andre. Brothers and Sisters: Queenie Grimes, Minnie Brown, Marie Johnson, Alex Johnson, Arran Johnson, Eddie James Johnson, Kenneth (Pricilla) Johnson, Dallas Johnson, and Roy Johnson, Jr. Sister in laws: Annie Doris (Marion) Thomas, Annie Louis Smith. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
