Chief Bobby Edward Wiggins was born September 21, 1951 in Randolph County to Rosa Wiggins and Tallie Mitchner. He graduated from this earthly realm into eternal life on May 19, 2016. At an early age he became a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He was educated in Randolph County School System. He graduated from Henderson High in 1969. Later he received his law enforcement training at the Columbus Police Academy. His career in law enforcement began in 1974. Throughout his tenure, he worked with the Cuthbert Police Department, Randolph County Sheriffs Office and with the Randolph County Board of Education as a school resource officer at Randolph Clay High School. He was currently the Chief of Police, a capacity in which he had held for over a decade. Chief Wiggins, better known as “Big 6”, committed his entire life to the service and protection of the community where he lived. In 1971, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Lettie Carter. To this union, two children were born. He leaves to cherish his loving memories his loving wife, Lettie Wiggins, two adoring daughters, Cantrell Wiggins and Tedra Wiggins-Jordan (Derrick) both of Cuthbert, Ga. Four grandchildren: Trahmad, Tajah, Tyler and Tristan, three sisters, Dorothy (Thomas) Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC; Yvonne Mitchner of Cuthbert, GA. Mary (Benjamin) Dennis of Birmingham, AL; and one brother, Robert (Remetta) Wiggins of Lawrenceville, GA.; One Aunt, Pauling Cephus, of Macon, GA; one brother in-law, John Carter Jr. of Cuthbert, Ga.; one sister in-law, Margaret Hawkins of Upper Marlboro, MD. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
