Freddie Starling OfficiatingInternment Services:Pleasent Grove Cemetery George Flowers was born December 4, 1955 to Henry and Freddie Mae Flowers in Shellman, Georgia being the seventh of nine children. George passed away at his home in Shellman, Ga. on May 26, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, a brother, Henry L. Flowers Jr., and a sister, Laura B. Turner.His elementary and middle grade education was received from Shellman Vocational Elementary & High School in Shellman, Georgia. For high school he attended and graduated from Henderson High School in Cuthbert, Ga. George was employed with Day Plywood Company for several years prior to the beginning of his illness in 2002, and separated from the company on disability status which he remained until his death.George joined the Union Hill Baptist Church during the early 70’s and served to the best of his ability during his illness.Although George was never married, nor did he have biological children, he assumed the father role to all his nieces and nephews as well as several other youth in the community that knew him. During the lengthy illness and following the passing of his older brother, George became a father for one special niece, Sequetta Sullivan who was reared from birth in the same home as George. Two other nephews, Harry and Larry Flowers, as well as one niece, Patricia Flowers Pittman was also reared as siblings in the home with George. George leaves to mourn his passing a guardian daughter, Sequetta (Corey) Sullivan of Shellman, Ga.; four sisters, Annie Doris Flowers of Elizabeth, NJ.; Carrie Mae Jackson and Mary Lee Flowers, both of Cocoa, Florida; Velma (Willie) Martin of Cuthbert, Ga. Two brothers, Walter (Deborah) Flowers of Shellman, Ga.; Willie (Karen) Flowers of Leary, Ga.; A Niece reared as sister, Patricia (Larry) Pittman of St. Petersburg, Fl.; Nephews reared as brothers, Harry Flowers of Shellman, Larry (Jeanetta) Flowers of Cuthbert, Ga.; A devoted sister-in-law, Ms. Betty Flowers of Shellman, Ga.; A godson, Roderick (Angela) Foster of Shellman; A Goddaughter, Tammy Parker of Shellman, Ga.; A special uncle and aunt, Eugene (Almeda) Thomas of Cleveland, Ohio; Close cousins, Minnie (Ulysses) Patterson of Miami, Florida; Theresa and Sheila Flowers, and Sylvia (John) Griffin all of Shellman, Ga. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
