He answered the Master’s call on Saturday morning, February 21, 2015.He gave his life to Christ at an early age, walking to join Second Saint Luke Baptist Church. As an adult he was a dedicated member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. James was a participant in the programs provided by the New Horizons Service Board, a community based healthcare program. He was faithful, loyal and dedicated to the program and its participants. He was a constant advocate for those he felt did not have a voice.James also participated fully in civic activities by attending meetings, voting in all elections and asking for assistance for those with disabilities. James was a person of great character and dignity with a big loving heart and compassion for all. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all who he knew. He had tremendous love for his family and friends.He leaves to cherish his memories: Brothers, Charles (Marjorie) Slaughter of Albany, GA, Donald (Phyllis) Slaughter, and Grayling Davis, who was reared as a brother, both of Cuthbert, GA; Sisters, Naomi (Bobby) Jenkins, and Linda Porter of Cuthbert, GA, and Leslie (Richard) of Leesburg, GA; Aunts, Lillian Slaughter, Lee Ethel Tillman, and Minnie (Carroll) Dockins, all of Cuthbert, GA; Uncles, Robert (Ruth) Davis of Atlanta, GA, Willie (Ann) Davis of Vienna, GA. Special Cousins Ruth Bryant, of Albany, GA, Edward Davis, of Orlando, FL And many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and caregivers.
