David IngramMae Rose Adams (affectionately known as “Sister”) the daughter of Monroe and Flossie Adams was born in Morris, Georgia on November 1, 1916. She was reared in the church and became a member of Morris First Baptist Church early in life. Ms. Adams also attended school in Morris to obtain an education. She worked diligently in the church and served as a Sunday school teacher to the younger age group. Ms. Adams sang in the church choir and made herself available to visit the sick, shut-in and those in need. Ms. Adams worked on the farm, served as a housekeeper and assisted in the rearing of not only her four children but her grand-children and great grand-children. She always served as a role model for the children and young adults in her community. Ms. Adams’ hobbies included gardening, digging in her flowers, quilting, cooking and sewing. Her favorite flowers were “red”, “white”, “yellow” and “pink” roses. Ms. Adams was the “matriarch” of her family. When she spoke the other family members listen. She leaves a legacy of kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity that is befitting of a servant of God. Her memory will be forever cherished by those who love her. She was the mother of five. One deceased daughter, Betty Jean Adams and one deceased son, Willie Sam (Jack) Thomas (Irene) of Morris, Georgia. Those who will continue her legacy include one living son, Willie Ed (Harry) Lee (Mamie) of Morris, Georgia and two daughters; Flossie Adams and Linda Adams of Lithonia, Georgia. Two special nieces, Gloria J. Upshaw of Lithonia, Georgia. and Eva Adams of Fort Valley, Georgia; one great nephew, Steven Upshaw (Nicole, Jaden and Julian); one adopted “grand-son Constant V. Payne all of Lithonia, Georgia. Nine grand-children, Daryl Lee (Clorissa) of Morris Georgia; Manquell Rashun Lee of Eufaula, Alabama; Harry Devon Lee of Eufaula, Alabama; Bruce B. Grier of Memphis, Tennessee; Samuel E. Thomas (Barbara) of Morris, Georgia; Marvin J. Thomas (Gwendolyn) of Eufaula, Alabama; Michael T. Thomas, Sr. (Doris) of Eufaula, Alabama; Marc A. Thomas (Keishon) of Macon, Georgia; and Sandra L. Foster of Miami, Florida. Ms. Adams was blessed with 21 great grand-children, 6 great, great grand-children, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and her own personal Guardian Angel – “Angel” (her beloved dog).
