Funeral Services:1:00pmWednesday April 23, 2014Vilulah Baptist Chuch213 Worship RdCuthbert GA 39840Deacon Arthur “Tom” Alexander, Sr., of Cuthbert, GA entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the age of 86. Deacon Alexander, more affectionately known as “Tom” was born to the late James and Erial Alexander on March 15, 1928 in Cuthbert, GA. He resided in Randolph County and was a devoted member of Vilulah Missionary Baptist Church until he moved his wife, Bernice and their two children, Mildred and Arthur “Buddy, Jr.” to Harford, CT where he and his wife lived for 37 years. While in Harford he worked as a laborer for many years with Kessler Construction and King Construction until his retirement. He and his wife were devoted members of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where he was a member of the male chorus for about 36 years. After returning to Cuthbert in 1990, he returned to Vilulah Missionary Baptist Church where he became a Deacon and served as vice-president of the choir. Tom loved the Lord and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He also loved to sign gospel music and his shoulder would dance with the spirit as he sang. He also enjoyed singing, “I’m Trying to Get Ready” with his wife, Bernice. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, James and Erial Alexander, his daughter, Mildred Erial Fullard, and five brothers, Benny “Fox”, James Ross, Ulysses, Marvin, and Baby Alexander. Tom leaves to cherish his loving memories his devoted wife of 67 years, Bernice “Teenie” Alexander of Cuthbert, GA; his son, Arthur “Buddy” Alexander, Jr. of Cuthbert, GA; his sister, Pastor F.M. Barnes of Windsor Locks, CT; two brothers, Rev. Willie “Frank” (Emma) Alexander of Albany, GA and Pastor Joseph (Janice) Alexander of Framingham, MA; son-in-law, Willard “Bill” Fullard of Enfield, CT; two sisters-in-law, Earlene Johnson of Cuthbert, GA and Gloria (Calloway) Wilson of Cuthbert, GA; three brothers-in-law, Chestine (Virginia) Spence of Cincinnati, OH, Flex Spence of Cincinnati, OH and Felton (Sudie) of Cuthbert, GA; one aunt, Evelyn (Coleman) Green of Cuthbert, GA; four grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
