On January 13, 1961 in Benevolence, GA, God blessed Mrs. Mamie Taylor Shingles and Mr. Willie B. Shingles with a baby boy, Clifford. On December 5, 2013 while working at Alabama Inter-Forest, Clifford answered the call to come to his eternal home. He joined Pleasant Grove Church of Benevolence, GA at an early age. Clifford was educated in the Randolph County School System. He was a graduate of the class of 1979.Clifford was a loving and kind man. He married Nellie Ruth Johnson Shingles on December 1, 1984 to this union two children were born. On December 1, 2013, Nellie & Clifford celebrated 29 years of marriage, what God joined together let no man put asunder. Bro. Shingles was a faithful and dedicated employee of the U.S. Army. He served active duty for three years and in the National Guard for five years. When Clifford returned home he worked for Day Plywood Co. in Cuthbert, GA. When Day Plywood Co. closed Clifford started working for Alabama Inter-Forest Co. in Eufaula, AL and worked for 10 years until his departure. Preceding him in death are his parents, one sister, Eva; four brothers, Ezekiel, Fred, Hayward and Johnny. His father-in-law, Mr. Curtis Johnson, Sr.The loving memories of Clifford and the life he lived will be cherished by his loving wife, Nellie Shingles; one son, Sherod Shingles; two daughter, Ebonie Shingles and Koren (Anthony) Starling; four grandchildren, Karamell, Korequanna, Koby, and Tyquavion all of Cuthbert, GA; three sisters, Ruby J. Shingles, and Ethel (Winston) Drake of Albany, GA, and Daisy (Willie) Lyles of Roselle, NJ; two brothers, Sylvester (Mary) Shingles of Orlando, FL and Spencer (Bernadette) Shingles of Elizabeth, NJ; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Mercer D. Johnson of Cuthbert, GA; one aunt, Ms. Cleo Taylor of Miami, FL; nineteen sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Lena Williams and Renora Johnson of Cocoa, FL, Mary Adams and Shirley Johnson of Titusville, FL, Sharon Bryant, Annie Doris Paramore, John L. (Christine) Johnson and Daniel Johnson all of Cuthbert, GA, Earl (Dixie) Johnson, Curtis (Geraldine) Johnson and Lynn (Janel) Johnson all of Albany, GA, two special friends, Isaac Cannon and Amos Tamplin of Cuthbert, GA; two godsons, Aaron Bryant of Cuthbert, GA and Jalen Johnson of Albany, GA; one goddaughter, Jaleah Johnson of Albany, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends, his classmates of Randolph County Comprehensive High School class of 1979.
