Again death has visited the Knighton family in Cuthbert,GA, and taken from us a person who set an example worthy for us all to follow. On Saturday, June 15, 2013, Ms. Leslie Ann Knighton departed this life at her home. Leslie was born on August 23, 1968 to the late Annie Pearl Knighton and Leroy Cooper. One brother preceded her in death, Bruce Knighton, Sr. Leslie joined Benevolence Baptist Church at an early age. She graduated from Randolph-Clay High School in 1986. She continued her education at George C. Wallace College in Alabama and Albany State University in Albany, GA and majored in early childhood education. She was employed with the Randolph County Board of Education where she served as a Head Start teacher for 23 years. Leslie love was basketball, she coached First Baptist Upward Basketball and assisted with the Just Chillin' Baseball team and the J. B. Smith Youth Group. She was the best clock keeper and bookkeeper for the Red Devils for the past 20 plus years. Leslie leaves to cherish her memories: two sisters, Lisa A. Knighton of Cuthbert, GA; Aleatha Hazel-Ponder (Louis) of Rochester, NY; one brother, Wesley Hazel of Rochester, NY; one adopted sister, Annie D. Johnson; two sons she raised, Tremaine A. Alexander and Jaterious R. Knighton, one goddaughter, Kendra Q. Knighton, a close sister-in-law, Janice L. Knighton; two special nieces, Melissa C. Knighton and Kamella A. Johnson; a special nephew, Ian J. Knighton; eleven aunts, four uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
