Russell Lawrence Johnson was born on September 23, 1965 in Georgetown, GA to the late Kalester and Leamon Johnson. At an early age he accepted faith in Christ and became a member at Mount Zion Quitman Baptist Church. He graduated from Stewart-Quitman High School. Years later he moved his membership to Virgil Chapel AME of Coleman, GA, after he devoted his life to wife Linda Johnson. He was employed at Columbus Mill, then later begin to work at Ed Smith Construction until his health failed. Russell departed his life March 21, 2013 at Phoebe Putney hospital in Albany, GA. He is preceded in death by his mother and father Kalester and Leamon Johnson, four brothers, George E. Johnson, Jack Johnson, Leamon Johnson, Jr., Elijah Johnson, and two sisters, Maggie Mae Flowers and Flossie Bouyer. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Linda Johnson of Coleman, GA; three sons, Malique and Marquis Johnson of Coleman, GA and Russell Hawkins of New Jersey; one daughter, Monique Johnson of Coleman, GA, two grandchildren, Kennedy and Amillo Hawkins of New Jersey; a devoted niece (daughter) Tonya Johnson; two brothers, Earl (Ruby) Johnson of Eufaula, AL, Wesley (Geraldine) Johnson of Georgetown, GA, two sisters, Geneva (Leroy) Bouyer of Georgetown, GA, and Mary (John Daniels) Petterson of Georgetown, GA; a mother-in-law, Ruby Martin of Coleman, GA, eight sisters-in-law, Bridget Martin of Warner Robins, GA, Florene (Darrell) Carter of Byron, GA, Mary (Mack) Thompson of Byron, GA, Gussie Williams of Fort Valley, GA, Joyce Goines of Atlanta, GA, Sharon Jackson, Pat (Ronny) Florence, and Linda Goines all of Springfield, MA; three brothers-in-law, John (Sarah) Martin of Fort Gaines, GA, Deon Goines and Brandon Shand both of Springfield, MA; a special friend (brother) Willie Jones of Union Springs, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
