Thelma Holmes Woods (Davis) was born into this world on November 4, 1941 to the late Bernice and Fred Holmes. She was the oldest of eight children. She departed this life on December 5, 2012 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. Thelma confessed her love for Christ at an early age and joined Antioch Baptist Church, where she served until she moved away. After graduating from Randolph County Training School in 1960, she moved to New York City. While there, she worked for CBS Studios as a background singer. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Tony Woods, Sr. and to this union six children were born. Thelma was often called "Miss Bea" by all that knew and loved her. She was a very loving and compassionate person, willing to help anyone in need. She will be greatly missed. She leaves to cherish her memories her children Renee Eichhorn (Charles) of Parksley, VA, Antionette Woods of Waterford, MI, Benda Gilbert (Michael) of Deltona, FL, Tony Woods, II, Michael Woods, and Brian Woods (Tomeka) all of Albany, GA; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one God-daughter, Donna Hodo of Columbus, GA; three sisters, Ruby Mayweather, Brenda Holmes both of Albany, GA, Caroline Ross ( James) of Chicago, IL; one brother, Tony Holmes of New York City, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
