Evelyn Ewards was born September 20,1947 to Richard and Annie Ree White in Cuthbert,Georgia.On Thursday,October 11,2012,while resting in her mother's resident,God's Army of Angels accompained her as she journeyed on the morning train to Heaven.She was preceded in death by her father,Richard White,and brother,George Walter Starling (Mike) .Evelyn accepted Jesus as her Savior at an early age.She was a dedicated and faithful member of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church,where she served on numerous auxiliaries under the leadership of Reverend David Hamm.Although sickness had started to invade her body and prevent her from going to praise Him in His House,her heart and loyalty were always with God,and she praised Him wherever she was. Evelyn attended and graduated from Monroe High School in Albany,Georgia,in 1965.Throughout high school,she maintained a 3.0 grade point average or better,and she served as the captain of the girls' basketball team. After deciding to make a fresh start,Evelyn decided to move to Detroit,Michigan,where she was later married to James Edwards,and employed by Chrysler Corporation.In that time,she was a certified welder,an assembly line worker,and a member of the local 1700 UAW union.After 26 years of being a dedicated and loyal employee,Evelyn's mind and health convinced her that it was time to retire and return home to Cuthbert,Georgia. Evelyn's legacy will be honored through her mother,Annie Ree Starling,and her five children,Derryl White (Daphina)of Lawrenceville,Georgia,Donna Bonner(Michael) of Detroit,Michigan,Jermaine White of Albany,Georgia,Jamell Gibson of Cuthbert,Georgia,and Aldeman Walters(Nakaiya) of Fort Worth, Texas.She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren,Cornelius Price,Amber Bonner,Breanna Price,Donovan Bonner,Jamaar Edwards,Myiah Hill,Jhaleel Edwards,Aldrin Walters,and one great grandchild,Amora Bonner. Evelyn will forever be treasured by her devoted brothers and sisters,Willie Maude Bruce of Ellenville,New York,Dr.James T. White (Mila) of Union City, Georgia,Pastor Barbara Mitchell of Omaha,Nebraska,Christine Starling of Cuthbert,Georgia,Willie J.Starling(Shirley) of Omaha,Nebraska,Sonya Starling-Gibson(Dornal)of Trumann,Arkansas,and a sister-in-law,Cristle Starling.Evelyn also left an unforgettable impression on countless aunts,uncles,nieces,nephews,cousins,and friends.
