Willie Emmet Goines was born on June 16, 1925, to the late Mr. John Henry Goines and Lucille Pete Goines in Clay County, GA. Our heavenly Father saw fit to call one of his angles home on Wednesday June 20, 2012 at Phoebe North in Albany, GA He was Baptized at an early age at New Hope Baptist, in Coleman, GA. He attended Coleman Junior High School. After High School Willie enter the U.S. Army in 1949 til 1950, then he moved to Florida for several months . In 1951, he moved to Alliance, Ohio in search of better opportunity. December 31, 1951 he married the love of his life, Miss Gertha Lee Peterson . On the night of their wedding they moved to Newark, New Jersey. To this union four daughters were born and he also raised 3 sons. He attended Abbysinia Baptist Church in New Jersey. His favorite hobbies were playing pool solitaire and attending to his yards. He worked at Linder Black Company in Plainfield New Jersey until 1957. He continued to seek better opportunities and landed a job as a long shore man at Port Newark in Newark, NJ. He worked at Port Newark for 33 years and he retired in 1991. He moved back to Cuthbert, GA with his family in 2001, where he enjoyed the remaining of his retirement life in leisure. He has left us with many warm memories to cherish and a great legacy for us to follow. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife, Gertha Lee Goines, four daughters; Sander (Jimmy) Thompson of Loganville GA, Barbara (Charles) Baker of Newark, NJ, Janice Nelson of Cuthbert, GA and Britt (Keith) Green of Clinton, Maryland; Three sons: Fuquan Hammond, Bill Simmons and Kwame Darby; Siblings: John H. Goines, Eugene (Margie) Goines, Fannie Mae Daniels and Olivia Vanover. Eight grand-children, four great-grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
