Mrs. Avery Sampson-Williams was born on February 19, 1931 in Randolph County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Ms. Lelia Engram. She departed this life on June 21, 2012. She attended the Randolph County Training School and really enjoyed mathematics. She lived most of her life in Cuthbert but did live for a short while in West Palm Beach, FL. She was a loving and kind mother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed reading the Bible daily and tried her best to put into practice the things she learned. Her favorite Scripture was Job 6:8, " Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!" (KJV) She was the first member of our family to study the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and during the last month of her life she entertained the hope of living forever on a paradise earth. She is survived by her four sons: Leon and Donnie Sampson of Cuthbert, GA; Frankie (Willie Mae) Sampson of Albany, GA; Larry (Jackqueline) Sampson of Columbia, SC; one brother, Wardell (Mary) Engram of Albany, GA; eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; two nieces, Frances Simmons of Albany, GA; Bobbie Engram of Cuthbert, GA. She is also survived by aunts, uncles and a large host of cousins. She had one deceased daughter, Joelene (Richard) Goldman of Miami FL. She was truly a sweet and humble soul and we will miss her very much.
