He was raised by the late Annie Julia Burnett-Hicks, his mother and the late Albert "Buddy" Hicks, stepfather. He joined Benevolence Baptist Church as a young child. He was a faithful member and served as an usher for many years. He also served as a choir member, member of Sunday School, and as Acting Superintendent. He was employed by Burgin Lumber Mill for several years. On Friday, January 20, 2012, Louis smiled and answered God's call. We will miss his smile, his loving, kind, playful, and humorous ways. Nevertheless, we accept the fact that he is now at home with our Most High God Almighty. He had two siblings, step-sister, Rebecca Hicks and step-brother, Fred Hicks; and an aunt, Rosa Mae Burnett-Reams, to precede him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Christine Baldwin; aunt, Rachel Burnett-Few; granddaughter, Khadijah Dashawn Baldwin; step brother, Jerry (Mary) Hicks; uncle, Robert (Queen) Burnett; cousins, Annie Julia Burnett-Washington, Willie James (Rebecca) Burnett, Charlie Mae Burnett-Anderson, Patricia Ann (Kenneth) Few-Hodges and a host of other family members and friends.
