Holmes Starling was born August 18, 1915. She was one of the seven children born to the late George Holmes and Tannie Mae Coolidge Holmes. She grew up in the Pleasant Hill Community, where she attended school and successfully completed the highest level of education at that time. At an early age, she joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Randolph County, GA. She later joined the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was a faithful member, serving as a Deaconess and Mother of the Church for many years. She married the late Leonard Green, Sr. and to this union two children were born. She later married the late Eddie Starling, who affectionately called her "Loss", and to this union eight children were born. She was preceded in death by one son, Eddie B. Green; a daughter, Carolyn Starling; and a stepdaughter, Irma Starling Mitchell. Lossie B. will always be remembered as putting her family first because she always gave her unconditional love and support. She was an excellent cook, a very tidy person, a home maker and enjoyed taking care of her family. While communicating with others, one of her favorite sayings was, "Well Sir." Lossie B. departed this life on October 27, 2011 at Joe Anne Burgin Nursing Home in Cuthbert, GA, where she was a resident for a short period of time. She leaves to cherish her memories her children: Leonard Green, Jr. of Chicago, IL, Willie Starling (Edna), Marvin Starling (Mary), Felton Starling (Linda), Welton Starling (Beatrice) all of Atlanta, GA, Constance Crowley (Charlie), Rev. Alfred Starling (Annie), Michael Starling (Carolyn); two stepsons, Timothy Starling (Eunice), Rev. Freddie Starling (Georgia); a brother, Albert Holmes all of Cuthbert, GA; a sister, Genevieve Davis of Monticello, GA; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, thirteen step grandchildren, seventeen step great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.click here to view memorial video
