Hewey was born on November 20, 1920 to the late Bish and Essie Mae Martin in Randolph County, GA.  She departed this life on April 3, 2011 at Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home in Cuthbert, GA. She joined Mt. Gilead Baptist Church at an early age. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Jonas Hewey, Sr. and to this union eight children were born. She had two children to precede her in death: daughter, Diane Hewey and son, Jerry Hewey. She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, Pearlie Hewey, Mary (James) Wilson, Susie (J.C.) Hewey all of Eastland, PA, Angela Hewey of Cuthbert, GA; four sons, Flemming Martin of Forest Park, GA, Jonas Hewey, Jr. of Austell, GA, Tommy Hewey of Washington, D.C., Willie (Dorothy) Hewey of Cuthbert, GA; one sister, Lizzie Harden of Cuthbert, GA and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
